Objectives of the Food Security program are to increase food production and improve accessibility, promote livestock health, production and marketing of products, improve household incomes to vulnerable groups.South central Somalia.
Strategic directions:
- Rehabilitation of communal dams and boreholes through food voucher or cash for work
- Distribution of farm inputs and implements to encourage and stimulate farming culture to boost food production
- Capacity building on providing extensional services to farmers and provide counseling on how to increase their production as well as reduce cost of production.
- Livestock restocking to famine and drought stricken pastoralist and agro pastoralists.
- Cash food for work.
- Distribution of relief food to the vulnerable households.
- Provision of loans grants
- Formation of small business enterprises such as Beekeeping, Gardening, poultry etc
- Safety net assistance.
- Creation of revolving fund through income generated activities (IGA).
