Objectives of the health and environment program are to improve access to safe drinking water and appropriate sanitation & hygiene facilities, promote sustainability and optimal use of natural resources through conservation and proper utilization. South central Somalia.
Strategic directions:
- Improve water, sanitation and hygiene
- Provision and distribution of aqua tabs and jericans to households
- Rehabilitating and renovating boreholes, dams and watering points
- Constructing watering troughs for the animals at the boreholes
- Building and renovating dam canals
- Encouraging rain water harvesting
- Construction of latrines and toilets at major public centers as well as OTP and T- SFP centers.
- Mobilization of Hygiene promotion
- Training of water management committees
- Support communal water sources
- Support community afforestation programs
- Sensitization and create awareness of environmental conservation
- Diversion of water streams for useful purposes
- Rainwater harvesting
- Construction of gabions and dykes
